    Understanding EPF

EPF, or Employees’ Provident Fund, is a retirement savings scheme for Indian employees regulated by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). It allows employees to contribute a portion of their salary each month towards retirement savings, supplemented by contributions from their employers. When changing jobs, transferring your EPF is crucial to maintain your savings and avoid multiple accounts.

Let’s now walk through the step-by-step process of transferring your EPF online:

    Steps for Online EPF Transfer

Step 1: Login to the Member eSeva Portal

    • Visit the Member eSeva portal and log in using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password. If you don’t have a UAN, you can easily generate one on the EPFO website.

Step 2: Access the EPF Transfer Service

    • Once logged in, go to the Online Services section and click on “One Member–One EPF Account (Transfer Request)” to initiate the transfer from your previous employer to the current one.

    Step 3: Verify Personal Information

    • Review and confirm your personal details such as name, mobile number, and bank account information. Also, verify the PF account details of your current employment for accuracy.

Step 4: Retrieve Previous Employment PF Details

    • Once current details are verified, the portal will automatically fetch your previous employment PF account details. Click on Get Details to view this information.

Step 5: Choose Employer for Attestation

    • Select either your previous or current employer for attesting the claim form based on availability of the authorized signatory. Provide necessary details like member ID or UAN.

    Step 6: Authenticate with OTP

    • Click on Get OTP, receive a one-time password on your mobile, enter it on the portal, and submit for authentication.

Step 7: Track EPF Transfer Request

    • After OTP submission, you’ll receive a tracking ID. View PF account details and track transfer status online. Print and submit Form 13 to your employer within 10 days.

Step 8: Employer Review and Approval

    • Your ex-employer reviews and approves the transfer claim, forwarding it to EPFO for final approval. You’ll be notified via SMS once the transfer is successful.

    Importance of EPF Transfer

Transferring your EPF account is vital for:

    1. Continuity of Retirement Savings
    2. Preventing Interest Loss
    3. Facilitating Smooth Withdrawals
