“Non-Investing: A Nerdy Confession – What Have I Been Reading”

Are you a fan of 李克勤, 韦礼安, or 胡夏? If so, you may enjoy watching the latest variety show, 《披荆斩棘4》, that my spouse and I have been binge-watching. As an introvert, I find solace in quiet activities like reading, watching Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX), or taking nature walks, which have inadvertently helped me reduce spending and positively impact my finances.

Today, I want to take a break from my usual finance-related posts and share some non-finance books I have read this year. These books have captivated me with their unique storylines and thought-provoking narratives.

First, let’s delve into the sci-fi trilogy 三体(刘慈欣),which I discovered after watching the Netflix adaptation “3 Body Problem.” The original Chinese novel, with its imaginative and philosophical elements, challenged my thinking about intellectual beings and left me in awe.

Next, “The Big Questions: Physics” by Michael Brooks offers a fascinating insight into the intricacies of our world in simple language, perfect for both science enthusiasts and laypeople alike. This book covers twenty thought-provoking questions, shedding light on topics like parallel worlds, time travel, and the simulation hypothesis.

In “An Attitude of Gratitude” by Tan-Soh Wai Lan, I gained valuable insights into personal accountability and life lessons through the memoir of a humble and inspiring leader. Similarly, “When Breathe Becomes Air” by Paul Kalanithi left a lasting impact with its poignant reflections on life, hope, and human experiences.

Diving into geopolitics, “The New Cold War” by Robin Niblett offers a comprehensive overview of the US-China rivalry and the factors shaping our global landscape. Finally, “Sleeping, Dreaming, and Dying” by the 14th Dalai Lama delves into profound topics but presents them in a challenging yet informative manner.

In conclusion, exploring a diverse range of non-finance books has enriched my perspective and inspired personal growth. I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and discover new literary worlds that may broaden your horizons. What non-finance books have you been reading lately? Share your recommendations and continue the journey of exploration and learning.
